Montréal, QC – Wednesday, March 12, 2025 – Last Sunday, Canadian singer-songwriter and 2024 Juno Award Winner Amanda Marshall made a surprise appearance on Quebec’s Star Académie, the biggest musical phenomenon on television, produced by Productions Déferlantes and airing on TVA. Known for her powerful voice and evocative lyrics, Marshall took the stage to perform her iconic hits, “Let It Rain” (1995) with Academy Professor Véronic DiCaire and “Believe in You” (1999) with Academy Godmother Lara Fabian.

Amanda Marshall’s journey into music began at an early age in Toronto, a city known for its diversity and cultural richness. Exposed to a broad spectrum of genres, from Barbra Streisand to The Rolling Stones, Marshall’s love for music became her foundation. At six years old, she first entered a recording studio and felt an immediate connection to the craft.


Singing before she could walk, Marshall was destined for a life in music. At sixteen, a meeting with Canadian guitar legend Jeff Healey changed the course of her career, introducing her to new musical influences and guiding her into the professional world of music.


In 1995, her self-titled debut album was released, achieving Diamond status and Gold or Platinum status in 15 countries. This success was followed by her next two multi-platinum albums, Tuesday’s Child (1999) and Everybody’s Got A Story (2001). Her music took her around the globe and allowed her to collaborate with artists she had long admired.


After a decade-long hiatus, Marshall returned in 2023 with Heavy Lifting, her first full-length studio album in over twenty years.
