Kanehsatà:ke Tourism Unveils First Ever Branding Ahead of the
annual Indigenous Winter Market
Kanehsatà:ke, November 26th 2024 – Kanehsatà:ke Tourism proudly announces the launch of its first ever branding, unveiling a powerful logo, just one week before the second annual Indigenous Winter Market. This branding marks a significant milestone, symbolizing the community's rich heritage and its growing role as a destination for cultural and nature tourism.
Developed with the collective process of over 25 community members, the new identity and vision highlights Kanehsatà:ke’s pride, strength, and enduring ties to the land. It serves as a visual and emotional gateway for tourists to connect with the community’s unique identity while embracing its commitment to hospitality and sustainability.
This first tourism logo ever, features Two Dogs, Keepers of the Eastern Door, from the 2 dog wampum belt, standing vigilant to represent protection and guardianship, and The Pines, a historic symbol of resilience and unity deeply rooted in the Kanien'kehà:ka's connection to the land representing the great tree of peace and unity of the five nations of the Haudenosaunee people. Together, these elements encapsulate Kanehsatà:ke's identity—bridging past traditions and a future filled with potential.
“The new logo and slogan reflect who we are as a community—proud, resilient, and deeply connected to our land and traditions,” said the Kanehsatà:ke Tourism team. “As we welcome visitors to the Indigenous Winter Market, we are excited to showcase this fresh identity that celebrates both our heritage and our future through different collection pieces such as tote bags, sweaters and hats.”
The brand identity was rooted in the ideas and vision shared by over 25 community members and the Kanehsatà:ke Tourism team. Building on this foundation, creative directors Justin Kingsley and Paul Labonté helped shape the project, while renowned graphic designer Tim Neal brought it to life with his logo design. This partnership brought together diverse perspectives, weaving traditional values with modern storytelling to create a unified identity. By bringing "two worlds together," this endeavour became more than a design project—it's the continuation of a healing journey. The outcome is a powerful testament to the strength of working together, reflecting a community that embraces its heritage while building bridges toward the future.
